Walking to Ace Hardware!
We got to take a trip to Ace Hardware in our Meadow Lane neighborhood last week to purchase some items for our plant unit! It was raining every chance we got so we took advantage of a quick break in the rain to make our way there! We did a great job walking with our partners, remembering the rules, and following directions while outside of school!
Then we made our way to the soil! We had a discussion about what we were going to use the soil for and which kind we wanted. We also compared prices and decided on one based on that!
We got to the checkout counter and they added up our items and Ms. Schlegel paid for them!
Luckily, they had just finished getting the garden center up and ready to go! So we got to walk through and see what our flowers were going to look like as well as lots of other flowers and vegetables!
A customer stopped to show us some plants that had different smells and let us all smell some of the leaves she was picking!
As we were leaving, the plant truck driver stopped us and asked us if we wanted some free flowers that were still in his truck! We, of course, said yes and got to add them to our pile of items from the store! We were super excited and thanked him a lot!
We had a ton of fun and used all of our stuff to continue learning about plants. We planted the seeds in our Lorax pot as well as something else that you will get to see soon enough :)

Chet Ager Nature Center Field Trip
Thursday, May 8th we will be traveling to the Chet Ager Nature Center for our field trip. Today, (Tuesday) a note went home with some details about this field trip! If you signed up to bring a cold lunch, please remember to send it with your child on Thursday morning!
Please check the weather on Thursday morning and send your child in appropriate clothing! I would recommend old shoes and old clothes as we will be outside exploring!
We will be eating lunch in our classroom or outside of the school when we return to Meadow Lane!
As always, let me know if you have any questions at all! We are all so excited for our field trip!

Important Dates to Remember
Today in Wednesday folders a few important notes went home!
One of them is about our Lorax movie night! Please RSVP to this as we are needing to know how many children and families to expect!
The other one is about sack lunches on two special days! One of these days is our Chet Ager field trip day on Thursday, May 8th and the other one is about a day we are spending in the park on May 16th! This note is about lunch and what you would like your child to do (bring their own cold lunch or take a sack lunch from the cafeteria.) It is very important that you send this note back so we can plan for how many lunches we need!
As always, please let me know if you have any questions at all! Thanks for being so great for our class! :)

Kindergarten Family Night
Last week we had our Kindergarten Make and Take Family Night! Thank you to all of the families that came and joined us! We had a lot of fun learning all about some activities that we can work on at home and over the summer to prepare us for 1st grade!
Families either got to work on their activities together to make them and take them home, or play some of the games to get to know a little bit about them and play them when they get home.
Definitely let me know if you have any questions about any of the activities or need any help!
Thanks again to everyone who came to school!

Autism Awareness
Last week we wore blue at school for Autism Awareness. You child learned all about autism and how different students with autism learn. We watched many videos and read some books about different ways autism affects people. We learned that there are lots of students in our school with autism and they are all unique!
Our students colored a puzzle piece representing how every person is unique and different and they were added to a tree in the cafeteria about how Autism Awareness is growing!
Ask your child what they know about autism!
