Hat Day!

As you can tell, Ms. Schlegel is playing catch up on the blog this week! :)

Last week we had Hat Day to kick off the start of our Food Drive! We had some fun hats in our room!

Meet A Second Grader: Nusrat

Nusrat was our Owl of the Week this week!

Nusrat describes herself as happy. She can't wait to be a teacher and she loves arts and crafts, dolls, apples, and TV! If she had one wish it would be to go to Disneyland!

Nusrat is very smart and LOVES to learn. She is very curious and a nice girl to everyone in our room. 

Nusrat brought in some rocks that she has collected, a doll you can change, and a princess book that she loves to read. 

Math!

Just a quick update on what we are doing in Unit 5 of Math this quarter! Today we worked on estimation and some of the strategies we can use for estimating. We are also working on hundreds, ten sticks, and ones and how to represent different numbers on a number path, with a drawing, and writing them out.

We are loving Math lately!

Junior Achievement

This entire week during our Integrated time, we have had a Junior Achievement volunteer in our room teaching about all kinds of things! We have learned about communities, jobs, banks, money, taxes, voting, and more!

We were bakers at a donut shop and created some donuts, got paid for our donuts, used that money to improve our school by voting on what we wanted, and then earned money for it!

We had a ton of fun with Miss Judy!

Fall Party

Last week we celebrated Fall in our room! We made owls for the hallway and they all turned out adorable. We also got to take our decorated pumpkins home that we made for a friends birthday, create a spider snack, and play some Fall Bingo! We had a fun afternoon in our room!

Dental Visit

Last week we got to have Dental Students from UNL visit all of 2nd grade! They came and talked to us about healthy teeth and how to take care of them. We even got to dress up like dentists and talk about dentist visits!

Meet A Second Grader: Sadie

Sadie was our Owl of the Week this week!

Sadie describes herself as caring. She can't wait to get presents and if she had one wish it would be to get a pet. Sadie likes dogs and cats, the zoo, and toys!

Sadie is a friend to everyone in our room and is a great listener.

Sadie brought some postcards that were important to her that she received from her family. She read them out loud to all of us. She also brought a polished rock that she found.
