Just a few things...

We have been so busy in Kindergarten lately! Your child is learning how to do so many things including reading lots of words and short books, writing high frequency words, and lots of different things in math!

There are a few things I wanted to remind you about!
  • Please bring 20 pennies to school if you haven't done so already! We are using these every day in our math lessons making five groups, one to one matching, and learning about pennies and how much they are worth!
  • Halloween is on Thursday. Just a reminder that we do not dress up for Halloween at Meadow Lane. We will be doing some fun Fall stuff in the room on Thursday!
  • We are in need of some items for a few different activities THIS Thursday!
  • As well as some supplies for our room. If you are willing to donate to our classroom, please send me an email at tschlege@lps.org so I can let you know what kinds of things we are needing! Thanks in advance...it helps us out a ton!
  • Don't forget to pick up your cookie dough orders in the lunch room on Wednesday after school!

Apples, Fire Safety, Book Orders

We had a ton of fun this week in Kindergarten! We learned all about apples and launched an Apple Investigation about each kindergarteners own apple. They determined the color, how much it weighed, and how tall it was. They also got to taste test a bunch of different apple flavored things included apple sauce, apple juice, apple pie, apple gum, apple bread, and their own apple! They kept track of the things they liked and didn't like on their Apple Investigation sheet. We also learned about Johnny Appleseed and made hats to wear like he did.

We also got to go outside to do apple activities like rolling an apple down the slide into a bucket, apple races, and pinning an apple on the tree!

On Friday, Firefighter Kyle also came to school! He taught us lots of things about fire and how to stay safe. We practiced crawling below smoke, feeling the door, and got to see him put on all his equipment and learn what everything does. We had lots of good questions for Kyle!

Thanks for such a great turn out at Parent Teacher conferences! It's great to get to talk to all of you about your child!

Don't forget:
  • No School on Monday and Tuesday (October 14th and 15th) for Fall Break
  • Book Orders are due this Friday - October 18th
I hope you have a wonderful few days off!
